It’s fall and I’m all about figuring out ways to add apple cider to everything, including cocktails! Hot mulled cider is always a good option, but if you want something on ice, check out this Chilled Kentucky Cider! It has great flavor, but is a nice sipping drink, especially if it’s still hot outside.
Of course, use a good apple cider for this drink. It’s almost more important than using a good bourbon since there’s more cider than bourbon. The cider should be bright and have lots of spice to it. Don’t use a cheap watered-down jug of the stuff.
Once you have a decent cider and a decent bourbon you can mix up individual batches of this or times this recipe by 4 or 6 for a good pitcher of Kentucky Cider!

How to Make Chilled Kentucky Cider
You’ll need some equipment for this cocktail. A good shaker and strainer helps. You could just stir the drink, but it really helps to shake it to get it very chilled and also help the honey dissolve.

I like to add the honey to the bourbon and cider first and shake that really well so the honey dissolves.

Once the honey is dissolved, add the lemon and cinnamon and ice. Shake it vigorously to chill everything down. A frosted shaker glass means you’re doing it right!

Strain the drink into a nice rocks glass with ice and you are in business! I recommend using fresh ice as the ice in the shaker will be busted in pieces.

There’s no need to garnish this Chilled Kentucky Cider but if you want to stick a little lemon wedge on it with a cinnamon stick, it will be well received!
Cheers to fall!
