I had quite an interesting summer behind the scenes here in Denver. I started the summer with some bad news in my family and realized that men in my family have a history of leaving the world early.

So I decided to try to change that a bit by having a healthy summer.

I’m the kind of person though that tends to need to go all-in on something like this for best results and while there are SO many health-based challenges out there, I wanted to make my own.

Say HELLO to The 60 RESET challenge!

I’m the first person to do it and I’m happy to report that it’s amazing!

Let’s dive in so I can tell you more about it.

What is the 60 RESET Challenge?

This challenge takes place over 60 days and has five different goals. While you can change them to fit your lifestyle, the ones I did worked really well for me.

Here are the categories (They spell RESET, obvs.)!

REMOVE A VICE – For me this was alcohol. I completely stopped drinking for 60 days.

EAT HEALTHIER – I’m not a big dieter but did want to eat healthier during this period. For me, I decided to very much limit added sugar in my diet. No, I didn’t check every label, but I stayed away from sugary drinks and desserts.

STRENGTHEN YOUR BODY – I wanted to do some kind of workout every single day. This could be literally anything positive for your body. Some days I would do an intense weight circuit. Some days would be yoga. Some days would be 10 minutes of pushups. Just do something every day.

ELEVATE YOUR STEPS – Set a walking goal and make sure to hit it every day. I did 10,000 steps a day.

TRAIN YOUR BRAIN – Do 20 minutes a day of something intellectual. This could be reading a real book or writing something. I did 20 minutes of spanish every day.

Set Goals to Track Progress

To see this challenge really work, pick some ways to track your progress. I had three main things I was tracking.

Weight

I wouldn’t consider myself overweight at all when I started this challenge, but I was at my heaviest I’ve been and I felt that I wasn’t at a healthy weight for me. So I definitely wanted to track this for the challenge.

As you might guess, exercising while not drinking and not eating much sugar had a positive impact on my weight. Over 60 days I went from a starting weight of 190 pounds down to 175 pounds. (The 186 weight below is actually a bit after I started the challenge).

Push Ups

I wanted some sort of strength tracking goal so I chose pushups. Pretty easy to track.

At the beginning of the challenge, I could do 41 pushups without stopping.

After sixty days, I could get 60 without resting.

Very solid improvement and also worth noting that I wasn’t training for pushups. I was doing a variety of different exercises every day.

Mile Time

I have no idea why I picked this, but I decided to try to improve my single mile time. As a 42 year old dad I didn’t have super high expectations here, but I was able to trim about a minute and half off my time after 60 days on the challenge.

If you told 20-something me that I could run a 7:30 mile when I was 42, I think I would take that.

Why 60 Days for the challenge?

To be honest, I picked 60 days based off of the alcohol thing for me. I realized that after college I hadn’t gone more than thirty days without drinking so I just decided to double it.

It turned out to be a really great length though because 60 days is a good amount of time to reset any bad habits you have and also set really good habits.

If you walk 10,000 steps for 60 days and don’t miss a day… you will probably do it on day 61 also.

What if I don’t Drink?

This goes for all the goals on this challenge – make it your own. You don’t have to remove alcohol for 60 days, but pick some sort of vice you have (gambling? TikTok? etc.) and remove it.

Same goes for the other goals. Make it your own! I just did what made sense for me.

How do I join?

There’s no fancy sign-up or anything here! Just get started! Leave a comment if you want or, even better, post videos of your daily progress. That really helped me.

And yes, if you check out my TikTok there are almost 60 videos of just my face every day talking about the challenge.

Is that the most engaging content for a recipe creator? Probably not, but it helped me stay on track!

If you do post videos, use the hashtag #60reset so I can follow along!

If you are feeling a little out of control or just not as healthy as you would like, TRY THIS CHALLENGE!
