It’s slider season! Whether you are hosting a casual game day party or need something for an afterschool snack, I love a plate of easy-to-make sliders. A good slider needs to be fast to make, have good flavors, and be easy to eat while watching the game. These Pepperoni Pizza Sliders taste exactly like a slice of good pizza, especially once you add the hot honey butter!
I like baking these sliders so they get melty and all the flavors go together. I was a bit worried that the honey butter would just end up being a sticky mess on the sliders but it bakes on as a delicious, spicy sweet layer on top.
Have no doubt! These guys will disappear at your party!

What slider buns work best?
There are many different kinds of slider buns out there these days. For these sliders, I would avoid the very small King Hawaiian sliders (which I do like, but not for these). They are too small and a bit too soft. You want something with a good crust to it.
Look for slider buns that are essentially smaller hamburger buns. You can get the classic or get the sweet Hawaiian flavor. Either will work great.
In a pinch, you can make these on smaller hamburger buns as well!
Ingredients for these Pepperoni Pizza Sliders
The ingredient list for these sliders is pretty straightforward. You’ll need:
- Slider buns.
- Marinara sauce. I like to jazz mine up a bit with a few simple spices like oregano, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Mozzarella cheese. Even pre-shredded works fine.
- Pepperoni. No need for cupping pepperoni here since they are going in a sandwich.
- Hot honey. This stuff is great and mixes well in the butter.
- Butter. I use a salted butter and melt it slightly so you can brush it on the sliders.

How to make the hot honey butter
While these sliders would be just okay without the hot honey butter, I highly recommend it. It kicks them up like three levels and is really easy to make. Just gently melt the butter in the microwave and then stir in the ingredients. Do this while your sliders are baking so it’s ready to go.

Assembling and Baking these Pizza Sliders
These are very easy to assemble and bake. I like to bake my pizza sliders at 375˚F.

One note: Don’t over-sauce these sliders or they will get soggy on the bottom. About a tablespoon of sauce per slider is more than enough.
Then layer on your cheese and add 3-4 pepperoni slices to each slider. Bake the sliders for 5-6 minutes without the top bun to get everything really melted.
Then add the top bun and bake again for 3-4 minutes. Now it’s time for the hot honey butter!

Bake again once you spoon on the butter for about 3 minutes to bake the honey butter into the sliders. So good!
Serve these guys while they are warm!

Substitutions
There are a few easy substitutions you could make here.
– IF you don’t like it spicy, just mix the melted butter with spices and spoon it on.
– No pepperoni? No problem. Add some diced mushrooms and peppers to the sliders.
– Change up the cheese with provolone or gouda cheese.

Leftovers and reheating
These leftover sliders keep fine in the fridge for a few days assuming you have leftovers (unlikely). The best way to reheat them is in a 350˚F oven for 4-5 minutes. If you microwave them, they will be soggy and gross.
